Fishing Hunting Lodging

Nestled between the Uncompahgre River and the 13 acre private lake Nokomis is the ‘Bunkhouse’. The 900 sf bunkhouse was converted from an old calving shed and built with materials ‘found’ on the ranch. The stone floors, barn wood walls, and tin ceiling, combined with an eclectic mix of fixtures from the 1950’s and 60’s, will bring you back to a quieter, simpler time.

The antique hunting, fishing, trapping, and early ranching memorabilia will keep you entranced for hours as you remember your own childhood hunt and fish camp experiences (there are even books that you can look up the history of the fishing lures, traps, and duck decoys that are displayed).

The bunkhouse sleeps 8 comfortably with 3 sets of army bunk beds, a foldout full size Murphy bed, and a queen size sleeper sofa. Half the beds are spread out in the main room and half are in a private bedroom. If you want to sleep on the porch ‘under the stars’ there are cots available as well. The 4 recliner chairs that surround the old army potbelly stove (reportedly from Fort Crawford that was just up the street during the early Ute Indian years) are so comfortable that you may just grab a good book and an elk blanket and ‘camp out’ for the night.

There is a full kitchen with stocked cupboards and refrigerator so that if you are so inclined you can relax and cook in privacy and not have to run to town for meals. Special requests for food and drinks should be made in advance of your arrival.

The bathroom has a sink, vanity mirror for you vain types, standard toilet, claw foot tub with hand shower, and a washer and dryer.

The outside covered stone porch is set up for group gatherings with tables and chairs as well as fire pit perfect for sitting around after a days outing to tell lies about ‘the one that got away’!
